#halifashion: clutch culture

Last Saturday night I had the pleasure of attending 29 year-old designer (and all-around lovely lady) Mo Handahu's summer 2012 presentation of Clutch Culture at Fred in Halifax. The space at Fred was chic, super-polished and we were even treated to live music. The event began with Mo's 1998 collection (1st set of pics), a bold mix of prints and bright hues evocative of the '90s. The second collection entitled Wild Hearts, is heavily inspired by her Zimbabwean heritage and incorporates a plethora of beautiful African prints. Check out more pics of the event on Mo's blog, Curvy Geekery and a Q&A feature on the newly launched FredStyle site. Congratulations Mo!!

Head over heels for Nadja Bender's amazing casual outfit. I love the all the different denims paired together and the chic striped long-sleeve tee. To get the look, try these jeans, this top, these sandals, the 3.1 Phillip Lim sleeveless jacket she's wearing, this bag, this necklacethis watch, these sunglasses, and this belt.

If you think the classic black leather jacket is too much for hot weather, what about these yummy summer-friendly (read: less weighty + cooler hues) options from Zara?

alexander wang resort 2013

Not your typical resort collection but A. Wang's isn't the sort of designer to do "typical". Although the fabrics are lighter, many of the designs can easily transition into fall; in particular the leather jackets, vests and the almost translucent white lug-sole boots.

summer playlist

It hasn't occurred to me until now to do a playlist post. Here's what I'm listening to this summer:

1. Rio - Duran Duran
2. Call It What You Want - Foster the People
3. Youth Without Youth - Metric
4. Eyes Wide Open - Gotye
5. Infinity - The XX
6. Timebomb - Kylie Minogue
7. Anjalee - Lucero
8. Radio Nowhere - Bruce Springsteen
9. Take Care - Drake feat. Rihanna
10. Radioactive - Marina and the Diamonds
11. Burn It Down - Linkin Park
12. Titanium - David Guetta feat. Sia

And definitely check out Vogue's 2012 Summer Playlist: The 10 Songs You'll Have on Repeat

It was the intricate blue and white prints echoing Ming vases and its variations that grabbed my attention in this collection. The delicate white and black lace detailing, particularly on the leather pieces, and the jewel-encrusted booties are also insanely gorgeous. #totesamaze

"Happy Monday" is kind of an oxymoron, no?
