Cake

Confession: I am obsessed with Marie-Antoinette. Ever since I saw Sophia Coppola's exquisite film, Marie-Antoinette, and read the book the film was based on, I've been extremely interested in all aspects of her life (also I'm just obsessed with royalty in general so, you know). I thought it was rather apropos that France's most arguably iconic shoemaker (Christian Louboutin) would design a capsule collection of yellow, pink and blue silk shoes inspired by France's most iconic queen. The result is a shoe so decadent, it belongs in a display case rather than on someone's foot (IF they can shell out the $6,295 for these babies). I know what you're thinking..who would pay that much for a pair of shoes, especially now when the world is in such an economic rut?? And the answer is, I have no idea who exactly...but I'm sure the 36 pairs that were produced were snapped up fast by privileged parisiennes. As for the design of the shoe, I'm not crazy about the mini-bust of Marie-Antoinette complete with wig, but its removeable, no big deal. I do love the jewel tones, the embroidery and beading are exquisite and the double platform is amazing as always. Seriously though, I would be freaked to wear these. What happens if I get mud on them?? or cake (do you like how I slid the cake reference in there?? You know, "Let them eat cake"?? Ha.) Anyway, if by chance I stumble across an extra 7 g's, I don't think I'll be buying these shoes. What do you think?

The shoes are gorgeous
But they're the kind of shoes that you'd have a poster of.
Or find in a weird little store and buy them because they're awesome even though you know you'd never wear them.
and kind of keep them out in the open where everyone will see them , and then you can tel everyone the amazing story on how you found them. and mention how they were reminscent of Marie Antoinette. and then say "I'd never wear them , but they are GORGEOUS , right ? "

I'm rambling on haha.
Anyways I don't like the mini bust either , it makes it too obvious. and not subtle.

i too am Marie Anne obsessed. (And so we both know she never made the cake statement!). I have 3 different biographies on her life as well as one on Louis.

I personally adore the shoes. They come in 3 different colors: one is baby blue, the other is pink. I want these so bad!! I think they are lovely. The price I find to be ridiculous. I wish someone would replica these. LOL. J/k. Kinda.
