I've been glued to the news every morning to watch the coverage on the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Sendai, Japan. The images are pretty unbelievable; houses, cars and boats being tossed around flooded waters like toys, and copious amounts of debris littering the streets. You can only really imagine what the people there are going through, and even then its unimaginable. Following a disaster like the one in Japan, the Red Cross works with governments and other humanitarian organizations to provide for people's basic needs including shelter, family reunification, assistance finding support, first aid, information, food and clothing. Japan may seem like a world away but there is still so much you can do to help aid and recovery efforts. You can start by making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross. You can also text the word ASIA to 30333 to donate $5 to the Canadian Red Cross. Follow them on Twitter here.
