proenza schouler fall 2012

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have evidently looked to the far East for the inspiration for this collection. The silhouette was oversized, with voluminous stiff white cotton jackets, shirts and pants very akin to karate gis. Leather was used throughout; woven motorcycle jackets and miniskirts and buttery wide-leg pants. One particularly impressive piece was a collarless leather jacket tied at the neck with an open weave revealing the model's burgundy-hued shirtdress underneath. Another favorite possessing incredible workmanship was the quilted-satin varsity jacket (last look) embroidered with pheasants on the chest. As Hernandez succinctly put it, the look is "Asian, but in a New York way".
