balmain fall 2012 campaign
A simply beautiful campaign for Balmain fall 2012 which includes my favorite (and probably everybody else's) runway ensemble, look 13 (bottom).

balmain resort 2013
Balmain went all Miami Vice for resort 2013. Citing a trip to Miami as his inspiration, Olivier Rousteing delivered pleated oversize trousers, strong-shouldered jackets, and South Beach hues in yellow, peach and mint. Signature elements of the label remained true to form: slacks were skin tight and the dresses were super mini, including one version made entirely of basket-weave raffia.

balmain fall 2012
This collection is all about the embellishments which Olivier Rousteing took to another level. My favorite look, worn by Karlie, was an off-white crew neck sweater tucked into a pair of skinny black velvet pants adorned to the hilt with crystals and pearls. Amazing high-low combination.

balmain pre-fall 2012
I am so feeling the new Balmain under Olivier Rousteing. He's doing amazing work creating luxe garments while still maintaining the label's rock n' roll aesthetic. Olivier incorporated oversize pieces to this collection such as loose pajama pants in sumptuous quilted silk in a fabergé print and wide-leg trousers in everything from silk to plush velvet. There is a very regal feel about this collection. The sex factor is still present with skinny jeans and beautiful emerald green leather pants, jackets and shirts, all with gold button detailing.

balmain s/s 2012
This was Olivier Rousteing's first big runway presentation as creative director for Balmain. He described the collection as "Mixing the tailoring of Mexico and the glamour of Vegas". The new kid eschewed his predecessor Decarnin's tattered, trashy tees (amen to that) for clean, white versions and elborately embroidered tops. The southwestern flavour was made apparent with fringe, oversize gilded cowboy belt buckles, and the light denim in shirts and sweeping skirts. There was also a bit of a lighter side to the collection with lovely wallpaper-floral motif trousers and a dress in baby blue. Given the label's success in recent years, Rousteing has big shoes to fill; but if this solid effort was any indication, those shoes should fit him nicely.
