It seems that in the collective opinion of the fashion world (and little ol' me), Sarah Burton passed her first test as creative director of Alexander McQueen with flying colors. Successfully maintaing the dramatic and darkly romantic aesthetic the label is known for, this collection is so very McQueen. The strengths of the collection are the more formal looks with garments ranging from a nude handkerchief-hemmed frock with lace detailing to a short black drop-waist dress with armoured shoulders to a gorgeous red and black chiffon gown. My favorite is a black suit with tailcoat, pure sophisticated glamour.
