Not your typical resort collection but A. Wang's isn't the sort of designer to do "typical". Although the fabrics are lighter, many of the designs can easily transition into fall; in particular the leather jackets, vests and the almost translucent white lug-sole boots.

"Trompe l'oeil was Alexander Wang's big talking point for pre-fall. Menswear fabrics and strict tailoring were the collection's dominant motifs, but in his hands, classic houndstooth patterns and glen plaids became burnout sweaters and intarsia knit dresses, while jackets layered in transparent mesh were slit at the collar and lapels, the better to weave your long hair through. The concept extended to accessories: Mesh booties were designed to look like old-fashioned seamed panty hose, and the season's new clutch was a sunglasses case blown up to exaggerated proportions." -Nicole Phelps

I'm a sucker for an awesome boot with a mid-heel (comfy for walking AND gives you height) like these gems by Alexander Wang (top), 3.1 Phillip Lim (middle) and Jean-Michel Cazabat.

I'm definitely liking this collection better than spring 2011. Edgy, downtown pieces are what Alex Wang does best and these clothes are a testament to his aesthetic.

I lalalalove this collection. With cleaner lines and super wearable pieces these clothes are a retailer's dream. Everything is definitely more elegant but still with Wang's edge. The slouchy pants are perfect with a cool cut-out detail at the knee. Simple zipper detail on shirting replace the ubiquitous stud. Refreshingly enough, there is very minimal hardware in this collection. The outerwear is strong with sleeveless trenches, vests and moto jackets as well as a cropped caramel suede biker jacket. Neutral hues dominate the palette save for two beautiful silk frocks in autumnal orange and a deep teal. Pre-fall is obviously made to sell and this collection definitely will.
