vamos a la playa

I'm currently writing this post in the middle of a snowstorm. Its almost April and there's a snowstorm. Words cannot express how sick I am of winter. If you're like me and don't live in summerland (i.e. California or Hawaii), I suppose there are ways for us to channel the amazingness of being on a beautiful, warm beach. The above four things may help:

Spritz some Beach by Bobbi Brown (on your skin and/or around your apartment). This eau de parfum smells like saltwater, sand and sun. It is literally the beach in a bottle.

Slip on a bikini, like the Melissa Obadash Sao Paulo bikini (above), and watch a young and yummy Leo in The Beach cavort around shirtless on the gorgeous beaches of the Phi Phi Islands (Koh Phi Phi), Thailand. I might actually watch this today to try and forget about snowmageddon happening outside.

And lastly, a chic beach bag by Michael Michael Kors that can easily double as a city bag.

beach walk

Inspired by the Corsican beach of Calvi in 1972, Replica Beach Walk by Maison Martin Margiela is "fresh as the spray of the ocean, bergamot, lemon and pink pepper are instantly fused. Radiant and sensual ylang ylang follows, illuminating the addictive scents of coconut milk, musk and heliotrope. Unctuous odours that reveal just a hint of saltiness."

This is a scent that basically epitomizes summer and I'm thinking I need to try it.

The Perfumed Court

I stumbled across The Perfumed Court in my ongoing search for backstock of my favorite fragrance, OM by Gap which was, to my dismay, unceremoniously discontinued around 10 years ago. TPC has stock of vintage and discontinued fragrances, fragrances not available for sale in the US, limited editions, as well as new fragrances. Fragrances are hand decanted (i.e. in generic bottles supplied by TPC). What is so fantastic about this site is that you have the option of "testing" a fragrance by purchasing a 1.5 mL spray decant for only (roughly) $4.99 USD. If you don't like it, no harm done to the credit card. If you know which fragrance you want (like I did) you can select from 2.5, 5, 8, 15 and 30 mL decants. I ordered OM in the 15 mL decant and I am soo excited to receive it. Yeah I kind of cheated on my self-imposed shopping moratorium but I felt I had no choice!!
