Coco on the Lido

Above: some of my favorite looks from the Chanel Resort '10 collection. I ask you, could you imagine a more perfect setting for a Resort collection runway show than a boardwalk on the Venice Lido at sunset???

Chanel Resort '10 evoked a bygone era when chic ladies strolled along the Lido in their finest frocks. There were nautical references in sailor stripes, there were gorgeous sheer printed and beaded dresses and sumptuous fabrics with rich detailing. The classic Chanel tweed suit was re-interpreted with edged fringe detailing and a corset top. A genius reference to Venice's legendary masquerades were Chanel sunnies sported as masquerade lorgnettes. On top of all this glamour were the models' hair and make-up which could be likened to those of a silent movie siren's of the 1930's.
