givenchy pre-fall 2011

This is definitely an edgy collection. Riccardo turned out leather-paneled drop crotch pants, leather parkas (one paired with a beautiful chiffon frock) and armadillo printed sheer maxi skirts which, oddly enough, look amazing.

alexander mcqueen pre-fall 2011

Sarah Burton showed a grandly-scaled (250 piece) pre-fall collection with a decidedly militaristic flare. Navys, reds, blacks and golds dominated the palette of opulent officers' coats, beautiful pantsuits and luxe gowns.

chloé pre-fall 2011

A very straightforward collection with gorgeous autumnal hues (burnt siennas and oranges) and perfect separates for day. Wide-leg trousers were plentiful as well as mid-length a-line skirts. The clothes feel cozy, especially an oversize patchwork shawl in virtually every color Hannah MacGibbon incorporated into the collection.

stella mccartney pre-fall 2011

Stella McCartney never strays from her clean aesthetic, which is extremely admirable in an industry so dictated by trend. In a collection very much inspired by her native England, the designer presented boxy double-breasted wool coats, capes and long-sleeved wool dresses. Skinny pants were paired with preppy loose-fitting sweaters and silk blouses. One look consisted of a burgundy pant, a sweater in cherry red and a slick rain coat topper in a tomato hue. These pieces are nothing extraordinary; but they're classic yet modern and extremely wearable.

the row pre-fall 2011

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen upped the sensuality quotient in this tightly-edited collection and I looooved it. Black leather was used to create a myriad of pieces including cropped skinnies, a pencil skirt with a slit up the side, a sleeveless shirt, a sexy shirtdress, a suit and a muted buttery-soft trench. Beautiful tailoring was also showcased in an ecru pantsuit with a slouchy trouser and long blazer, and a long-sleeved tunic with a flared pant was a bit of a throwback to the '60s but looked modern and sleek in a light camel hue. The classic white shirt was shown in silk, chiffon and cotton.

céline pre-fall 2011

This is the pre-fall collection I've been waiting forever to see, and Miss Philo did not disappoint. It was really difficult to narrow down my favorite looks because I pretty much loved everything. Pristine tailoring is evident in nearly every piece, especially the gorgeous wool blazers, cigarette-leg trousers and a trompe l'œil denim dress pieced together with different shades of denim. More amazing pieces consist of a patchwork tweed pant and coat which Phoebe termed "modern urban camouflage" (love!). My favorite piece is the funnel-neck wool felt duffel coat with iridescent PVC paneling detail... seriously ah-ma-zing. I am in awe of the understated femininity always present in the Céline collections and this one is no exception.
