Gorgeous, almost ornate wedges from Rodarte spring 2011. The wedges were beautifully carved from wood, metal and pyrite cubes into flowers and butterflies. I love the elegant blue and white Ming vase-esque print, which also appeared on a gown.

À bout de souffle (Breathless) was re-released at Film Forum in celebration of its 50th anniversary. Rialto Pictures has also collaborated with Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte to create t shirts inspired by what Jean Seberg wears in the film (here). The more I hear about this film, the more I want to see it.

rodarte f/w 2010

I watched the Rodarte f/w 2010 collection streamed live on showstudio, which was awesome. Chances are it will be the closest I'll get to being at an actual show so it was really exciting for me. What sets apart the Mulleavy sisters from other designers is the visceral presence of art in their clothes. This collection was soft and subdued, which is a nice reprieve from the tough, tribal Rodarte of previous seasons. The entire collection was based on sleepwalking, and the dreamy, romantic clothes definitely reflected this concept. The mood of the collection was quickly established when a large mass of white candles were lit at the front of the room. Fittingly enough, the heels of the towering Nicholas Kirkwoods were designed to look like melting wax (so incredible). The garments were fashioned mostly of floral chiffons and lace, with seemingly less emphasis placed on knit pieces than usual. The palette was comprised mostly of pinks, nudes, cremes and white. Four beautiful white lace and chiffon gowns closed the show. This was probably my favorite Rodarte collection to date.

I know what you're thinking...Miss Piggy and now Sesame Street? Yeah but its the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street! It used to be one of my favorite shows to watch when I was a kid. I was really happy to see this in Harper's Bazaar's September issue because I've found their editorials of the last few issues to be dull and uninspired. This one is by no means spectacular but it reminds you that fashion is supposed to be fun, playful and not taken seriously.
